This treasure sat idle

In 2016, we made a big move across Main Street, expanding Richter & Phillips Jewelers almost fourfold. Upstairs, our spacious new showroom opened up opportunities to host fundraisers for cherished organizations like Dragonfly and Cincinnati Children's Hospital and to bring the community together at events such as our highly anticipated holiday event, Whiskey & Watches.

But there's more to our new location at the corner of 6th & Main than just space. A hidden gem is tucked away at the bottom of a stunning white marble stairwell: a 1920s bank vault complete with its original iron door—a little-known treasure that adds a touch of historical intrigue to our modern home.

Historic Bank Vault

Shimmering with deco detailing, cloaked in jewel tones and rich velvet, The Vault is a unique, free space to mingle underneath the city. The Vault itself is stocked with a miniature beverage fridge tucked underneath a marble top bar. Sparkling glassware shimmers against a wood grained, blue and gold wallpaper opposite a grid of historic Richter & Phillips catalog memorabilia from the midst of the 1920s.

The Space

The Vault is a versatile space that can be used for a variety of events, such as non-profit planning sessions, presentations, book clubs, and cocktail hours. The space is open to your creativity, and we can accommodate up to 8 people for seated events inside the vault, or up to 25 people for casual gatherings. Your guests' comfort is our priority, and we are happy to show you the space so you can decide if it suits your needs.

The Vault FAQs

The Vault is a great place for smaller groups, comfortably accommodating up to 20 people for mingling or 8 people for seating. We offer this unique space for free to organizations looking to hold meetings. Additionally, we're always excited to collaborate on special events such as fundraisers or celebrations! Whether you're part of a book club, wine club, or just searching for a unique venue, The Vault is an ideal gathering spot. We welcome creative ideas, so please let us know how you'd like to transform this space into something special for your event!

We have a couple of great options for you to utilize during your private event. We have 5 high-top cocktail tables, a selection of high-quality tablecloths, and presentation-style seating chairs; we even have a red carpet!

Outside of the above-listed items, guests are invited to bring in any additional accommodations they may need. Food and drink are welcome.

When using the space, we ask that you please clean up after your group and reset the space as you found it for the next organization to enjoy.

We are unable to permit the consumption of our beverages on site. We are pleased to provide 8 oz bottles of water for your convenience, but we kindly request that neither you nor your guests consume any of the alcohol displayed on our shelves or stored in our fridge. You are more than welcome to bring your own beverages to serve at your event. Additionally, please note that the glassware and bar accessories on display are for decorative purposes only and are not available for use during your event. We encourage you to bring any necessary serving items you may need. Thank you for respecting this part of our decor, and we appreciate your understanding.

As a jewelry store, our primary focus is not event hosting; however, we are delighted to make our space available for your use. Please note that while we ensure the space is clean and ready for your arrival, the responsibility for setting up, tearing down, and cleaning up lies with you, the event organizer. We kindly ask that you leave the space as tidy as you found it, out of consideration for us and future users. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in maintaining the beauty and order of our venue.

No, we do not offer food or beverage service of any kind. Anything that you would like to serve your guests needs to be provided by the organizer. There are no food or beverage sales permitted.

The Vault is booked on a first-come, first-serve basis and books up to three months in advance.

The Vault is available for booking during the following business hours only:
Monday: 9am – 5pm
Tuesday: 9am – 5pm
Wednesday: 9am – 5pm
Thursday: 9am – 8pm

The Vault is not available to book Friday – Sunday.

We are happy to reserve the space up to 3 months in advance. Please note that Thursday evenings are our late nights, with availability until 8 pm. Monday - Wednesday we are open until 5 pm.
